For many people this summer will be unique in that they won’t be travelling abroad. It’s pretty easy to pack for a country where you’re guaranteed a particular temperature all summer long, not so easy for the UK where things tend to be a little less predictable.

To that end we’ve put together a handy packing list for Cornwall.

Since COVID we have only been selling private rooms and a great consequence of that is an increase in families who have found Cohort to be a viable, budget friendly alternative to hotels and self-catering cottages. As we love a good list here are our Top Ten things for families to do when staying in St Ives – both free and not-so-free.

St Ives Farmers Market is a GOLD award winning, well established and TASTY community landmark in the heart of the town. The market runs every Thursday from 9.30am – 2pm at the Guildhall, all year round. There is something for everyone and it is not to be missed.

In April of this year Cohort Hostel was taken over for two days by a wedding party. They decorated it beautifully, organised fantastic activities and food for the whole party, spending their very special 2 days with their closest friends and family. We were delighted to be a part of their celebrations.

Since we opened in April we’ve been getting more and more families coming to stay with us. Families have quite different requirements from the solo traveller – as you would expect – so as they’ve come in and out we’ve been finding out what they’ve been doing and thought we’d compile a list of family friendly things to do in St Ives based on their answers.
