NYE in St Ives

“Where are you spending NYE?”…. the question that incites dread and excitement all at once; and is always asked earlier than you expect.

For us in St Ives… the question is never ‘Where are you spending NYE?’ but ‘What are you going as this year?’. It’s a given that if you live anywhere near St Ives you’ll be spending NYE at one of the UK’s biggest street parties dressed up as something amazing and/or ridiculous.

No tickets needed

You don’t need to buy tickets for anything… you might wait a few minutes to get served at one of the many bars and pubs but no one asks for a ticket, nothing is exclusive and this only adds to the atmosphere in the streets where teenagers mix with families who mix with revellers who mix with pensioners – locals and tourists alike are out for an awesome time.

It really is an amazing sight!

Fireworks at Midnight

If that wasn’t enough St Ives then boasts the 3rd largest (midnight) firework display in the UK after London and Edinburgh. Stand on the beach or on the harbour or up on a hill overlooking everything to see a firework display that lasts well over 10 minutes.

New Years Eve @ Cohort Hostel
