Cohort Hostel, The Stennack, St Ives, Cornwall TR26 1FF
We encourage all our guests to get to us by public transport, especially during the summer months when it’s far less stressful to be without a car in St Ives. The bus network is awesome, especially May – September, and you can get anywhere you need to go. The money you save on parking can be used to buy more Cornish pasties.
Direct train from London Paddington – Penzance every hour (5.5 hours). Get off at St Erth, the stop before Penzance, and take the picturesque branch line train 10 minutes along the coast to St Ives.
National Express bus 3 times a day from London Victoria – Hayle (8.5 hours), then jump on a local bus for 10 minutes to St Ives.
Fly to Newquay Airport from Heathrow. You can also fly into Newquay from Belfast, Birmingham, Dublin, Dusseldorf, Edinburgh, Isles of Scilly, Liverpool, Manchester & Newcastle.
National Express bus 3 times a day Newquay – Hayle (1 hour) then jump on a local bus for 10 minutes to St Ives.

We are a 5-7 minute walk from the train station. Follow the main road into St Ives town centre (if you’re coming from the train station walk through the car park to find it) and keep following it as it turns sharply to the right and goes downhill. The first left towards the bottom of the hill is a tiny side road, ignore that and take the next left onto Gabriel Street. Walk past the library and then the Co-Op supermarket (on your right) to find Cohort after that on your right hand side.
For more details see our map at the bottom of this page.
If you’re coming by car do not aim to drive to Cohort, there is no car parking available directly by the building so it’s best to go straight to a car park and walk to us from there.
From the A30 turn off on the A3074 signposted St Ives. Drive past Dobbies Garden Centre on your right until you get to a couple of mini roundabouts. Go straight ahead at the first one and from the second one you have a choice of going left or right to get to St Ives. Going left will bring you around the back of St Ives, it’s a bit of a longer route but the road is wide and it’s far easier to navigate (just follow the signs to St Ives). Going right will bring you directly into St Ives, it’s a shorter way in but the roads are a lot narrower as you meet St Ives. Please follow signs to the car parks which divert you around the back of the town; do not drive towards the centre as you hit a one-way system and will have to turn around.
If you’re using your SatNav / Google Maps, please enter the postcode of one of the car parks and not Cohort’s postcode as you cannot park / stop outside.
You cannot park outside Cohort, there are 3 car parks nearby, see full details on our parking page.
