The crisis of plastic in our environments has been highly publicised for several years now. Major organisations, businesses and the government are making moves to address the over consumption of plastic in our society. The Plastic Free Communities initiative is a grassroots movement to push the over-use of plastic onto the public agenda and also into the political arena.

For us in St Ives… the question is never ‘Where are you spending NYE?’ but ‘What are you going as this year?’. It’s a given that if you live anywhere near St Ives you’ll be spending NYE at one of the UK’s biggest street parties dressed up as something amazing and/or ridiculous.

We live in the UK, we know that sometimes – when you’re least expecting it – it rains. It can change plans but don’t let it put you off enjoying your time in St Ives. There’s loads to do from enjoying a leisurely coffee, without the pressure to do a challenging coastal walk, through to a spa day and a visit to the St Ives museum. Our list will keep you busy for at least 2 days of inclement weather.

In April of this year Cohort Hostel was taken over for two days by a wedding party. They decorated it beautifully, organised fantastic activities and food for the whole party, spending their very special 2 days with their closest friends and family. We were delighted to be a part of their celebrations.

A while ago we bought Jason a beer in exchange for interviewing him about his holiday in St Ives. We were keen to get a guest perspective on the place and – as you all know – when you’re visiting a place most of what you pick up is from other visitors.
