It’s that time of year again – Festival Time in St Ives. As you might know Cornwall has a history of festival shenanigans – we love a good knees up; it’s an excuse to take time off work, hit the beach or harbour and celebrate all things Cornish. Coming up this weekend we have the St Ives Food & Drink Festival followed by the St Ives Literary Festival. Read all about it…

And so it begins… 2017, another year, another new year’s resolution. Personally I’ve stopped making them, mainly due to a total lack of interest in watching myself fail. Others may not make them for the sheer fact that they’re already doing it… like daily!

We live in the UK, we know that sometimes – when you’re least expecting it – it rains. It can change plans but don’t let it put you off enjoying your time in St Ives. There’s loads to do from enjoying a leisurely coffee, without the pressure to do a challenging coastal walk, through to a spa day and a visit to the St Ives museum. Our list will keep you busy for at least 2 days of inclement weather.

In April of this year Cohort Hostel was taken over for two days by a wedding party. They decorated it beautifully, organised fantastic activities and food for the whole party, spending their very special 2 days with their closest friends and family. We were delighted to be a part of their celebrations.

Ben Warner: a local surfer, instructor and coasteering guide at St Ives Surf School has written a post for us about why he is so lucky to live in St Ives. St Ives is a great place for a school trip; great art, iconic institutions, beautiful beaches and no need at all to trek umpteen children on and off public transport or coaches. Over the past year we’ve had some great schools and colleges visiting the area and staying with us: The teachers always look like they’re having a relatively stress-free time of it and the kids love the beaches and town.
Now we know there’s loads to do in the area but what does a school trip really consist of and what do you need to watch out for if you’re bringing your class to St Ives?
