Cycling

Love feeling the wind in your hair and the burn in your thighs? If so, cycling is definitely the activity for you and a great way to get about.

Cycle friendly accommodation at Cohort and an invigorating way to experience SW Cornwall

Cornwall offers the cyclist a great variety of cycling from quiet country lanes, which meander through picturesque villages and ancient harbours, to more challenging off-road routes which explore the depths of the Cornish countryside. From the genteel Camel Trail and Coast to Coast Trail, to the challenging North Cornwall coastal road which provides some of the steepest gradients in the county there’s something for everyone.

We love a bit of cycling at Cohort and not only do we offer facilities for cyclists, we also work closely with Lands End Cycle Hire and St Ives eBikes should you want to hire bikes when you arrive.

Cycle friendly accommodation

We have secure bike storage (just bring your own bike lock). Bikes can be left in our private courtyard and / or locked to our secure bike rack. We can let you in the back way so you can leave your bike in the courtyard before checking in and your key card will give you 24 hour access to your bike in order to go in and out of the hostel.

There’s plenty of secure storage in the dorm rooms for saddle bags and rucksacks, bring your own padlock or hire one from reception.

Cycling around St Ives

It’s a challenge cycling out of St Ives so if you want to avoid the hills altogether jump on the bus or train to Penzance and head over to the stunning St Michael’s Mount in Marazion village. Otherwise turn right up the hill from Cohort and head out of St Ives on the Lands End road (B3306) where you can cycle one of the top ten scenic roads in the UK.

You can plan all sorts of cycle routes using the interactive map on the Sustrans website and our staff will always be happy to help you plan a day (or two) out on your bike.

Thanks to St Ives eBikes for the photos.
