Terms & conditions

Below are our T&Cs in brief, to download the full version click here Cohort Hostel Terms & Conditions.

Please note that if you have booked via a third party, i.e. Booking.com, AirBnB, etc. please refer to their T&Cs as they may be different to ours.

To secure a booking

While the government is still requesting that you avoid contact with others in the event of a positive COVID test all our bookings are on a free cancellation basis; you do not pay a deposit and you can cancel / rearrange dates up to Midday the day before arrival free of charge.

In order to secure a booking you will be asked for a valid debit or credit card. The expiry date of this card must be after the day of check-out of your booking, if it isn’t we reserve the right to cancel the booking in lieu of not having a valid card on file for the duration of your stay.

Cancelling a booking

You can cancel your stay if notice is given to Cohort Hostel at least 24 hours prior to 12.00 hours (GMT) on the arrival date, i.e. if you are due to arrive on 24th you can cancel up to Midday on 23rd with no penalties.

In the event of a no-show or failure to cancel the booking by this time we charge your card the full cost of your booking.

Making amendments to your booking

You can make amendments to your booking at any point up until Midday the day before the booked arrival date; all amendments are subject to availability.

Once you have arrived at Cohort and paid the balance of your booking in full there will be no refunds if you decide to shorten your stay.

If you would like to extend your booking please tell us as soon as you can to make sure we can fit you in. In some instances it may be necessary for you to change rooms although we will do our best to avoid this.

You can move your booking to another date within 3 months of the original arrival date or up until 31st October of that year; whichever comes first.

We do not allow open ended bookings or hold credit notes. If you need to amend the dates of your booking you will need to know what dates you would like to change them to otherwise we will treat it as a cancellation (see above terms).

Amending the dates of your booking is subject to availability. We aim to be flexible and will change it if we can however if the dates you require aren’t available and you need to cancel the cancellation terms will apply (see above).

Multiple bed bookings

If your booking is for a number of people please contact us to request all being in the same room; we will endeavour to keep groups together but cannot make any guarantees.

Paying for your stay

You are required to pay the remaining balance of your stay on arrival.

Accepted payments

We accept cash (sterling) or cards at the hostel. Payment by cheque, postal order or foreign currency will not be accepted.

We accept Visa (debit & credit), MasterCard (debit & credit), Switch and Maestro cards. We do not accept AmEx or Diners cards.

There are no charges when using your card at the hostel, nor is there a minimum spend when using your card. Should you be using a credit card to make a payment of over £300 a 2% administration charge will be levied.

Age policy

Cohort Hostel is a family friendly hostel and will accept families with children over the age of 3 years old.

To ensure we provide safe and suitable accommodation for everyone, guests aged 15 and under must be accompanied by a person who is 21 years or older. Children aged 12 and over can stay in public dormitories if checked in with and accompanied by a responsible adult.

Children under the age of 12 are not permitted to stay in public dormitory accommodation and should be booked into a private room.

Guests aged 16 or over may stay in any accommodation.

We reserve the right to refuse entry on arrival to anyone not adhering to these guidelines; if this is the case NO refund will be given.

Photo ID

We will require all guests staying with us to have photographic ID; in the case of non-UK guests this must be a passport.

We will ask for photographic identification from any person purchasing alcohol at our bar who our staff deem to look under the age of 25.

Alcohol policy

Cohort Hostel has a licensed bar. For this reason guests can only drink alcohol in the main lounge which was purchased at the hostel bar.

Guests can drink alcohol bought off the premises in the kitchen and courtyard. We do not allow alcohol to be drunk in the bedrooms.

Guest behaviour

Cohort aims to provide a friendly, peaceful and secure environment for our guests. In return we expect our guests to be respectful towards our staff and building.

Any guest who is deemed threatening, intimidating, physically or verbally abusive or displays unacceptable or inappropriate behaviour will be asked to leave the building immediately.

Guests are not permitted to use our social spaces outside of reception hours (11pm – 8am); there will be a £25 disruption charge levied for non-compliance.

It is not permitted to bring non-guests into the building after 10pm.

Any incident which requires extraordinary cleaning measures will incur a cleaning charge of £50.

All damages and breakages must be paid for.

Cohort Hostel reserve the right to charge without notification the credit/debit card of the guest for any of the above. We will endeavour to inform the cardholder in person, by email or phone of any charges we have made.
