The surfing in St Ives is second-to-none, being on the North Coast but extremely close to South Coast currents. Porthmeor Beach is just a few minutes walk from Cohort and is a great place to learn, practice or for experienced surfers to just enjoy.
If you’re a surfer staying with us we have facilities for you to store your board, wash and hang your wetsuits and shower off equipment before you even enter the hostel. There is parking nearby so you don’t have far to walk from your car with your board.

St Ives Surf School is highly regarded as one of the best places to learn to surf in Cornwall and they run a wide variety of surfing courses. Their aim is to provide an unforgettable ocean experience in a fun, friendly and safe environment.
The experienced team offer a variety of surf lessons and courses on a daily basis from their beach front facility on Porthmeor Beach. Absolute beginners, improvers and advanced surfers are catered for with suitable tuition.
In all of the surfing lessons equipment is included free of charge and on-site secure changing facilities, male/female toilets and showers are provided. Typical lessons are 2hrs long with additional rental also available.

Cohort prices are as follows.
1 lesson: £31.50| 2 lessons: £58.50 | 3 lessons: £81 | 4 lessons: £99| 5 lessons: £112.50
For groups of 4 or more the price for one lesson is reduced to £27 per person and for groups of 8 or more the price is reduced to £22.50 per person.
